Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters

Episode 77: Countdown To Despair

Yugi walks back to his side of the Field. With little time left, if he can't somehow end the game, they'll both be pulled into the sea.

Jounouchi, who now has the Puzzle, is goaded by Malik to pull apart the Puzzle, this time for good. jounouchi takes the main piece out, and is about to throw it into the sea, when he gets the visions of how Yugi tried to defend he and Honda from Ushio a long time ago, and how Jounouchi threw the exact same piece in the pool.

Jounouchi stops, and puts the piece back in, stating he has no interest in Malik's revenge -- only to duel in this game.

Malik keeps pushing Jounouchi into killing Yugi, by defeating him in the duel. However, Jounouchi begins to make plays against what Malik wants.

In another part of the city, Honda, Shizuka and Otogi are looking for the area of the quarter finals. The are eventually spotted by the Ghouls again. Honda goes to hold them off, while he tells Otogi to take Shizuka somewhere safe...

...only to run out into the street and meet Mai. Honda has beaten the crap out of the Ghouls, and finds that Jounouchi is at the Domino Port. The crew heads there in the Mai's card.

Jounouchi and Yugi continue their battle, with Yugi coming to the conclusion that the only way to free Jounouchi from Malik's control is to fight.

Mai arrives in the card, and though they try to run to find out what's going on, Mokuba stops them from interfering, due to Anzu being held "hostage." Shizuka is about to remove her bandages when Anzu tells her to stop, since seeing her brother for the first time like that wouldbe too shocking.

Jounouchi then draws the Death Meteor card.
Episode 78: Attack Me! The Last Turn Of Fate

While the onlookers stand there, helpless, Kaiba gets an idea and calls in on his communicator.

While Yugi tries to make Jounouchi remember, it's no use as Malik takes over his body and plays the Death Meteor card at last. However, Jounouchi breaks Malik's control, but it's too late to stop the card play.

Yugi activates the Spirit Mirror card to redirect the card, and holds the Meteor there for a short while.

There is barely any time left when Kaiba's helicopter, under remote control, rushes to the scene. Distracting the sole Ghoul, Kaiba pulls a card from his Duel Disk and flings it. It embeds itself in the Ghoul's hand, making him drop the detonator, while the copter drags the crane and crate that was over Anzu's head into the water.

The Spirit only gives Yugi a little time. He just wanted to tell Jounouchi the he loves him, before he directs the Death Meteor...to himself. Yugi drops to the ground, and the box opens at Jounouchi's feet.

Jounouchi searches for a way to help Yugi. He tells Red Eyes to attack him, also dropping his Life Points to zero.

Shizuka pulls off her bandages. Jounouchi swings across with the chain...and makes it just in time for the bomb to detonate, sending the anchor into the water. Honda tries to make it to them but is too late.

Under the water, Jounouchi unlocks Yugi's cuffs with the key he grabbed from the box in front of Yugi.

Yugi floats to the top. Honda grabs him and tells Mokuba to grab the key. Shizuka already grabbed it, and leaps into the water. She swims down and unlocks Jounouchi from the anchor.

Jounouchi tries to aploogize for what happened. Though he thinks he's failed as a duelist, a well-placed slap from Mai tells him that Shizuka had come to see her brother duel to give him courage for all the times that he supported her.

With the Puzzle back in Yugi's hands, the other Yugi reflects on the power of kindness that the true Yugi had shown him. Kaiba and Mokuba leave for the area of the finals.
Episode 79: Ghost Deck vs. Occult Deck

The group talks for a short time, until it's time to find out where the area of the finals is. Jounouchi puts him Puzzle Cards in the Duel Disk, to show the Domino Stadium as the final gathering spot.

In the hospital, the other Bakura and Malik have a chat in Bakura's mind. Their plan isn't finished yet, and to complete it, Bakura show get the required number of Puzzle Cards to get into the quarter-finals.

After taking out Yugi's grandfather, Bakura takes a Duel Disk from a duelist and begins to make his way around Battle City. He finds a couple of people who tell him that there are still some duelists in the Cemetery.

At the Cemetery, Ghost Kotsuzuka and his two friends are scaring duelists for their Puzzle Cards.

Bakura makes his way in, and though they try to scare him, he's unfazed by their tactics. They decide to duel, since Ghost Kotsuzuka needs only one more Puzzle Card to make it into the quarter finals. Bakura begins a Game of Darkness.

Ghost Kotsuzuka's lack of skill shows through, with Bakura taking the lead in a massive way.

In the end, Bakura wins, and takes their five Puzzle Cards. Bakura now is a candidate for entering the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Yugi, Kaiba and the rest journey to Domino Stadium.
Episode 80: Ninja Master Magnum Appears

Mai and her group park the car, since they need to walk the rest of the way. Jounouchi admires a poster of Jean-Claude Magnum's newest movie, a limo breaks through the wall. He beats on the side of the car for the driver being dangerous, and out steps Jean-Claude Magnum himself. He has something important to discuss with Mai.

Apparently, Mai made a half-hearted promise to marry Magnum if he could beat her in a duel. And today, he's determined to duel her.

Magnum plays a Ninja Theme deck, and playing his cards allows him to Special Summon other Ninja, even though they have lot attack and defense strengths. Mai's tactics take him over though, and in the end, wins.

Though the duel is over, one of Magnum's cards, the Ninja Shogun, still remains on the Field since it's not an illusion created by the Duel Disks. It grabs Mai and takes her over a building. Jounouchi pursues. The man in the ninja costume drops Mai, who grabs a flagpole to hang on to. Jounouchi tells her to let go, and he'll catch her. He drops, and in doing so, knocks Jounouchi out.

Magnum resigns to defeat. Yugi and the group continue their way to Domino Stadium.
