Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters

Episode 73: The God of Obelisk

After a recap of the previous couple of episodes that concerned the Masks, the duel continues.

Light Mask states that since Yugi's Monster can't defend him, if Light Mask attacks, Yugi's done for. Dark Mask brings up the fact that even though they could take care of Yugi, Blue Eyes would still be a problem, and unless the Masks beat both of them, the Duel isn't over.

Kaiba takes this time to chime in with a confident statement that he couldn't believe that the Masks would play such a weak Monster as the Death Guardius. Kaiba has a power-up that will allow his Blue Eyes to destroy the Death Guardius on the next turn. Yugi thinks that Kaiba is baiting them with the Blue Eyes. Light Mask thinks it over...

...and attacks the Blue Eyes. Though Light Mask gloats at the destruction, Kaiba and Yugi have a plan up their sleeve. Yugi takes this opportunity to play Magnet Warrior Gamma, which combines all three Magnet Warriors into the Magnet Valkyrion.

Kaiba screams for Yugi to attack, but unless he can quiet his rage, Yugi won't attack. Kaiba has to identify the "true" trump card that he has -- The God of Obelisk. He also sees the Cross Sacrifice card in his hand. He gets what Yugi is trying to say, quiets down, and tells him to attack.

Attacking the Death Guardius is fine, but the destruction of it leaves mask behind, the Willed Mask. With that card, the Masks gain control of the Magnet Valkyrion. Dark Mask uses a card that allows him to use his partner's Monster, and attacks Yugi. Yugi activates Fusion Cancel, turning the Valkyrion into the three Magnet Warriors. [NOTE: Something that you CAN'T do in the real card game.]

Kaiba's turn comes up, and states: "I'll show you god." The Masks state that Yugi and Kaiba can't sacrifice due to the Sacrifice-Sealing Mask, but Kaiba states that they can sacrifice their OPPONENT'S Monsters. Kaiba uses Cross Sacrifice, sacrificies all three Magnet Warriors, and summons Obelisk.

Since Dark Mask has no Monsters left on the Field, Kaiba proceeds to pound the crap out of him in one hit from Obelisk. Though he drops due to the bomb, he has a parachute that allows him to land safely. Light Mask has no chance to win, so he concedes the game.

Malik quickly possesses Light Mask, and informs Yugi that he has his friends. Mokuba arrives in a helicopter to take them to the spot where he and Anzu were taken.

Meanwhile, Honda is on the train with Shizuka, and takes some time to purchase something to eat (Sandwiches, Sushi, Eel...). Shizuka is more worried about being a bother to her brother, since he is always the one supporting her.

In the helicopter, Mokuba zeroes in on Jounouchi's Duel Disk, at Domino Port.

Episode 74: Bond

Yugi, Kaiba and Mokuab debate the Ghouls, Millennium Items and the God cards in the helicopter ride.

For older anime fans, this is what is know as a "Revenge of the Stock Footage" episode. These are lots of flashbacks which aren't really worth mentioning.
Episode 75: Duel of Extremes, Yugi vs. Jounouchi

Malik and Rishid prepare for Yugi and Kaiba's arrival. Rishid hands six Puzzle cards to Malik, allowing them both to be contestants in the quarter-finals. Rishid also gives Jounouchi cards to create a player-destroying Burn Deck.

Jounouchi has been waiting for Yugi, and he is completely under Malik's control. The result is that they will have to have a Duel. And so that Yugi doesn't back out, Anzu is strapped to a Chain, and above her, a crane holds a metal crate which will crush her if a Ghoul presses a button.

The duel is simply: Yugi can't use his God card, and throws it on the deck. Each player is handcuffed to an anchor. If a player's Life Points reach 0, the box at his or her feet opens, revealing a key to unlock himself. The remaining player remains attached to the anchor that drops into the sea, and drowns.

Meanwhile, Honda and Shizuka arrive in Domino City, and unknown to them, they are being followed.

The duel starts, with Jounouchi using cards that were banned for use in the tournament, such as Thunder Bolt and Fireball.

As Honda and Shizuka walk through the city, they are stopped by several Ghouls. Honda and Shizuka begin making a run for it.

As the duel continues, Yugi tries to buy time to get through the Jounochi...
Episode 76: Reach Him! The Red Eyes Black Dragon of Friendship

Yugi, after the assault of the last Fireball, tries to break through Malik's control by appealing to Jounouchi's senses as a duelist.

However, it is the normal Yugi that asks his other self to let him fight, to save Jounouchi when Jounouchi saves him during the fire several episodes ago.

Honda and Shizuka are finally cornered, and when all seems lots, who should show up but Otogi. Otogi distracts the Ghouls with his dice, and them make a break for it.

Both Yugis debate on what to do, which is whether or not to summon the Red Eyes that he had just drawn. Yugi tells his other self to simply stand by and watch without saying anything more. He decides to play Exchange.

The shock of seeing Red Eyes breaks a small hole in Malik's control. Malik tells Jounouchi to take the Red Eyes and though Jounouchi initially agrees, grabs a Hand Obliteration instead. Yugi then plays Red Eyes, and attacks.

The other Yugi wants to take over, but Yugi simply takes off the Millennium Puzzle.

In the city, the Ghouls are still looking for Honda and company, but can't find them.

Yugi makes his way over to Jounouchi. Jounouchi plays the Permanent Magic card, Dying Battle, which makes all Battle Damage to Monsters permanent. The screams of pain that Red Eyes emits after being attacked by the Rocket Soldier shock him back to reality for a moment.

And Yugi puts the Millennium Puzzle around Jounouchi's neck.
