Yu-Gi-Oh! Card of the Week 31:
Breaker The Magic Warrior

303-017
BREAKER THE MAGIC WARRIOR
Dark/Magic User/4/1600/1000
Effect: When this card is successfully Summoned,
put 1 Magic Counter on this card (to a maximum of 1).
For each Magic Counter on this card, increase this
card's attack strength by 300. Also, you may remove
1 Magic Counter to destroy 1 Magic or Trap card on
the Field.

Here be the thirty-first card of the week for Edo's Yugioh Page. I'm too tired for snappy intros, so let's jump right into the meat of things, shall we?

Breaker appeared in the Champion of Black Magicians expansion, and is probably one of the most useful of the cards to appear in that set. And it was restricted around the turn of the year.

Breaker was one of the new 1900 boys on the block. Thought it HAS to be Normal Summoned to get its Magic Counter, it's contendable since there are other cards that you can use to get Magic Counters back on Breaker. Breaker can also be fetched from your deck by the Witch, which also makes it a nice card.

So, why in the world is it restricted? It's because of Breaker's second effect, which is destroying Magic/Trap cards. Since it's an activated effect, it's Spell Speed 1, and thus can't Chain anything. But the whole fact is that the effect can't be NEGATED (Skill Drain not withstanding). Thus, it's invincible Magic/Trap destruction without the possibility of it being Shocker'd or Order'd to stop it. It's a nice counter for Imperial Order, since you can destroy the Order, and resume playing your Magic cards with ease. what's more, with other cards such as Black Power Stone, your opponent may never get to use a reactive Trap card ever again...

Edo's Rating: 4 out of 5. It's an amazing card. Anything that gets around popular cards (Order) with a built-in effect is useful in my book.
